Sunset Senior Portraits {Ellie, Class of 2017}

Ellie won for crazy weather at a senior session for class of 2017! On her first session date, we had a tiny chance of rain early in the day but it never came. As soon and hair and makeup was done, the storm clouds rolled in. We made the most of it and did the urban portion of her session including a fun umbrella shot! We then rescheduled the rest of her session to another day. The weather was perfect but wildfires made for a crazy red sunset! I love the way these images turned out! A perfect match to Ellie's personality!

What kind of look were you going for in the shoot?: I didn't have any specific look in mind, I really just wanted to highlight all the different styles that make me

Loveland Senior Pictures with Mountain Views {Reagan, Class of 2017}

For Reagan's loveland senior pictures, she wanted a really natural look! She's a little bit flower-child at heart and I was so excited to bring her to a gorgeous green location to match her personality and wardrobe. Like most people, Reagan was a little shy in front of the camera at first. She was worried about looking awkward. We started the session out loosening up and joking around and before she knew it she felt so much more comfortable! I do a lot of directing and posing in my session to help make you look and feel your best. I also give you something to do, whether it be twirling or even running or a small motion like playing with your hair. It totally takes your mind off of being photographed and gives you beautiful natural pictures. Take a look at the gorgeous photos of Reagan and a peek at what she had to say about our time together.

What kind of look were you going for in the shoot?: I wanted an outdoorsy look that showcased my personality and hobbies! I loved that Kate was able to incorporate all sorts of flowers and even the mountains into my pictures!

How was your overall senior photo session experience?: My photo session was amazing! Kate helped me be completely comfortable in front of the camera even when we had to do silly poses for some shots! She was so helpful in helping me choose the right outfits and accessories. She made my senior photos the way that I had imagined them!

How did you feel about the hair and make up experience?: Keegan is very talented and was able to make me feel confident. She was willing to do any hairstyle or makeup that I asked for and worked to fix whatever I was unhappy with.

What's one piece of advice you have for other seniors getting their picture taken?:Definitely bring a variety of outfits to completely showcase who you are!

How many outfits did you bring and was it enough? Was it too much? Anything you'd change?: I brought four outfits and it was just enough! I did a few dressier pictures then some that were just casual jeans and a t-shirt. All four were some of my favorite clothes and they turned out great in the pictures.

How did you choose to accessorize your outfits?: I don't usually wear much jewelry so I went pretty minimal for my pictures as well. However, Kate even brought some jewelry for me to wear that she thought went well with my outfits.

How would you advise someone else to prepare for a senior photo session?: Know what you want as far as hair and makeup goes. Also try your hardest not to get sunburned before the shoot. (I'm very pale skinned)

What was your biggest fear or worry about the photo shoot? What was the outcome? : I was worried about being nervous and looking awkward in front of the camera. Kate joked around a lot and had me do silly poses just to get me to loosen up! The pictures looked really natural and I loved them!

What are three words you would use to describe yourself? : I would describe myself as sweet, outdoorsy, and quiet until you get to know me.

What are your plans for after high school graduation? : I am going to be attending Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado! I have been accepted into the nursing program this fall!

Sunset Senior Pictures in Downtown Loveland {Leah, Class of 2017}

 Senior pictures are all about capturing your true personality at this crazy transitional time in your life. You aren't quite an adult but you aren't really a little kid anymore either. For Leah's senior pictures in Loveland, CO we captured a whole range of her style and personality! She rocked the serious look and also let out quite a few laughs, mostly with her mom yelling out Friends quotes behind me. Her love of dance is very important to her as well so she wanted to show off some of her skills! In sports and activities, you often end up with a lot of cookie cutter pictures so it's really fun to break out of that box! These urban dance pictures are far from ordinary! Here are a few of Leah's words on the experience as well.

What kind of look were you going for in the shoot?: I was going for a beautiful yet fun and playful look. I like to be optimistic about life and somewhat laid back, and I wanted that to show through the pictures.

How was your overall senior photo session experience?: It was so great! The entire rep team is so amazing and I loved meeting everyone. My hair and makeup was flawless thanks to Keegan from Steele the Spotlight. Kate is so nice and so easy to get along with, I had a great time. I was really concerned about posing and body placement, but Kate was really helpful in giving me ideas.

Fort Collins Senior Pictures {Emily, Class of 2017}

I love photographing seniors and capturing little bits of their personality up against the beauty of Colorado! For Poudre High School senior, Emily's session, we shot in downtown Loveland and then moved to a natural area nearby with gorgeous ponds and a fun dirt road, and of course, a peek of the Colorado mountains to the west! Emily is serious when it's important but also totally ok with being goofy! We had a blast making each other laugh! I'm so happy we were able to capture a few different aspects of Emily's style and love how her personality came out with each outfit! Check out the killer boots in the last look too! ::swoon:: Here's a little more about the experience from Emily's perspective too!

What kind of look were you going for in the shoot?: I was looking for a very natural look. I also really wanted to take some what of original pictures and settings not cliché ones, something that brought out my personality in one picture.

Windsor Senior Pictures {Tia, Class of 2017}

Tia is my class of 2017 Senior Rep for Windsor High School in Windsor, CO. I am so loving all of the fun things these girls are bringing on for their sessions this year!! I'm always up for a challenge and love making the session completely special to you! Tia brought the truck her dad bought back when he was in high school! It's got sentimental meaning for her family and it was so fun to incorporate into her senior pictures! Take a look at what Tia had to say about our time together and get her advice for your senior pictures!

What kind of look were you going for in the shoot?: I was going for a simple, casual look that really showcased who I am and my style. I wanted my photos to really reflect me, and not just be super dressed up.

How was your overall senior photo session experience?: My experience was AMAZING --we were laughing and joking around the entire time and I have never felt so comfortable and confident in front of the camera before.

How did you feel about the hair and make up experience?: My hair and makeup was phenomenal, I felt like a movie star. I've never had professional hair and makeup done before, and it really boosts your confidence.

What's one piece of advice you have for other seniors getting their picture taken?: Wear things that really represent YOU! Don't try to be someone you're not. Your pictures are about you and for you, and if you're wearing what you love and what you feel comfortable in, it will really show in your photos.

How many outfits did you bring and was it enough? Was it too much? Anything you'd change?:I brought 4 different outfits, and it was plenty for me. It was easy to change in between looks and only having 4 outfits gave me more time to be in front of the camera.

How did you choose to accessorize your outfits?: I accessorized pretty minimally, but I used rings, necklaces and earrings that went well with my outfits.

How would you advise someone else to prepare for a senior photo session?: Eat good, healthy meals the days before and especially the day of your shoot. You'll feel more confident about the way you look and it might help prevent any breakouts on your skin before your pictures.

What was your biggest fear or worry about the photo shoot? What was the outcome? : I am very insecure about my arms, and I was worried that I wouldn't like how they looked in certain poses during my shoot. But Kate worked with me to find poses that I was confident and comfortable in, and my worries were washed away!

Meet the Class of 2017

I am so beyond excited to work with this amazing group of girls from Loveland, Fort Collins and Windsor over the next year! This is the class of 2017 senior rep team for Dear Kate Seniors! These girls will have already started having their custom senior pictures taken and then get to be my model team throughout their senior year. Not only that, but we'll get together throughout the year just for fun team building and a community service project. We got together in March for a little meet and greet and some fun headshot. Keegan, my favorite makeup artist from Steele the Spotlight, was at the studio for lips and lashes. It was so fun to meet all of the girls at once and get to see a tiny bit of their personalities!
